Our First Full Day in Lima

2-Dec-2019 • Lima Peru

On our first evening in Lima, we were able to book a three hour city tour through a travel agency close to our Ibis Hotel. Thus, on the morning of Nov. 26, which was a Tuesday, off we went on a double deck bus tour of the city. First stop was at the Huaca Pucllana in Miraflores. Then we drove around the city of Miraflores ending at the historic Plaza de Armas in Lima's city center.

While at the Unesco World Heritage site of Plaza Mayor, the other name the Plaza de Armas is also known for, we immediately went inside the spectacular Cathedral of Lima. There we saw the tomb of Francisco Pizarro plus the amazing and ornate altars made of wood and gold. We even toured a mini museum inside the cathedral.

The square was fenced off from the public to prevent some protesters from coming. Police presence was huge and tight. After a quick walk, our guide brought us back to our bus back to Miraflores.

A view of the cliffs from Larcomar Commercial Center.

A huge Christmas tree which delighted visitors to the open air mall.

The public buses of Lima reminded me so much of the buses in Manila. They even had bus conductors who collected the fares from passengers.

A view of Huaca Pucclana from our bus seats. We visited these impressive Inca Ruins the following day.
