I find it hard to believe it has taken me this long to post the pictures I took of the Costa del Sol while we were on vacation in the South of Spain. Anyway, I only have the cities of Fuengirola, Torremolinos, and Seville left and I sure hope to complete my summer vacation blog very soon. Just a couple more posts and I'm done.
While we stayed in Malaga for five days, we really traveled out of it every day to visit its neighboring cities. While I found the heat totally oppressive during our visit, I was thankful just the same that we didn't really experience any rain. Who wants rain during one's vacation, right?
We decided to visit Fuengirola and Torremolinos during our long bus ride from Gibraltar back to Malaga. While dropping passengers in these cities, we got a quick glimpse of the cities and we decided to explore it afterwards. In hindsight, I'm glad we did. I had heard of these places before, especially among the Brits who love to escape the dreary English weather. Well, sun and sea we did get, lots of them.
Fuengirola
The city center was not so big. The city had a feel of the Caribbean I must say. I even remember mentioning how the Islands of Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic seemed like the Costa del Sol.
There is no doubt tourists come to the Costa del Sol for its beaches.
This was one interesting intersection in the city center.
Here's a bridge by one famous architect. By who else but by Calatrava no less. Sr. Calatrava designed one in Redding, California just like this one.
The castillo in Fuengirola.
Another beach, I quite liked this one. Not so busy.
I was quite surprised to see plates, bowls, and coasters so similar to the ones we saw in Istanbul.
A local church in Fuengirola
An empty square in Torremolinos. I can imagine why this place is deserted. It is so hot to hang out here in the afternoon. Wait until it is night time and the people come out in droves.
Marc and I spent quite some time here drinking soda and escaping the afternoon heat. It felt sooo good.
Though I am not a fan, checking out the local laundromat has become a necessity for us in the past few years. We actually do laundry in these places once or twice each vacation.
