The Cathedral of Malaga

11-Sep-2018 • Malaga Spain

Just like all cathedrals in many Spanish cities, the Cathedral of Malaga was an imposing building located right in the center of the city. It looked truly magnificent from the outside. However, Marc and I no longer went in. Instead we toured its grounds which had lots of artwork exhibited throughout. If there is one thing I can say about Spanish churches, basilicas, and cathedrals, they are awe inspiring places of worship full of religious art.

I don't think we've ever stayed for less than an hour inside any of them. We normally explore for a long time stopping and taking pictures of the side chapels as well as the main altars. At times, I even find it hard to leave as I want to take everything in for as much and as long as I can.

The magnificent Cathedral of Malaga

This was the main entrance to the cathedral. There was admission to the site and we decided not to enter anymore. We had seen the ones in Seville, Cordoba, Madrid, and Toledo. With the exception of Madrid's cathedral, we paid to enter each one. If my memory serves me right we paid 10 euros per person to enter in each one. Every cathedral was simply spectacular.

This was the oldest part of the cathedral as can be seen from its construction and material used.

Here's a look at one of the walls. Looks pretty old, doesn't it?
