Layover in Jakarta in the Island of Java in Indonesia
From Bali, we returned to Singapore with Garuda Airways via Jakarta.
We left our hotel late in the morning and our guide for the two full days we were in Bali, Nala, picked us up and dropped us off at the Bali international airport. Little did we know that since we were returning to the Lion City with a long layover in Jakarta, we had to check in at the domestic terminal which was quite a walk from the international terminal. From there we were told that upon our arrival in the Indonesian capital, we had to take a bus from the newly built Soekarno Airport to Terminal 2 which was the country's original and oldest airport. When told this by the airline staff at the check in counter, I initially thought we had to take a public bus and personally make our way to the terminal. Little did I know the airline was going to provide the transfer and that it actually would wait for us until we arrived and actually boarded.
The flight from Bali to Jakarta was full. Nevertheless, boarding was quick and very relaxed. What I noticed with this boarding was that our fellow passengers didn't have lots of carry on baggage with them unlike Americans. There was hardly the tedious task of looking for bin space. None.
Prior to flying with Garuda Indonesia, I had always been warned about not flying with them based on internet reviews. Garuda Indonesia turned out to be a wonderful flight experience for us both on board the Bali to Jakarta flight as well as on the Jakarta to Singapore leg of our trip.
