I had missed seeing the painting "American Gothic" on my last visit to Chicago and I was hoping to see it this time around. Did I luck out! The painting was home and not on tour. There was no question as to what I wanted to see first on my second visit of the Art Institute. I went straight to the hall where it was located. Luckily too, there was no crowd milling about the painting although many people did stop, stare and take pictures. Now I can say, I've seen it first hand.
