I had seen and heard of the Merchandise Mart of Chicago many times. I had only seen it from the outside on previous trips to the city and never did I ever go in to look. First, it was only open to people of the trade. Since I was neither a designer nor anyone affiliated in the business of design, my visit was limited to the showrooms open to the public. How I wish I did though. I can just imagine the gems within.
