Marist School and Ateneo Grand Splendid Bookstore
On our third day in Buenos Aires, we decided to visit Ateneo Grand Splendid. You see, I get very curious every time I hear of a place that is named after my school, Ateneo de Manila. I graduated from this university for my undergraduate studies and while I was living in Spain I visited Ateneo de Madrid and Ateneo de Sevilla, both cultural organizations. Over in Buenos Aires, it is the name of a popular bookstore housed in a grand old theater.
While walking in search of Ateneo Grand Splendid, guess what we saw? The Buenos Aires branch of Marist School, my high school. Boy, was it a proud moment.

Here it is! The Ateneo! In BA though, the Ateneo is not a prestigious university but a major bookstore with many branches scattered all throughout the city.
Here's one Ateneo bookstore but not that splendid yet.
This was the Ateneo Gran Splendid. Splendid it was with its old theater setting.
