Avenida de Mayo and Café Tortoni

20-Jul-2017 • Buenos Aires Argentina

What does one do after visiting the Plaza de Mayo? Well, walk along Avenida de Mayo! The real reason we came here was to visit and dine at Café Tortoni. This was the famous café frequented by locals and foreign visitors alike.

I love murals and this was the first one I saw in Buenos Aires.

The facade of a European inspired building along the avenue. For years before my trip to BA, I had read about how European the Argentine capital looked and how many locals were proud of their European heritage. Now I understand.

When in Buenos Aires, one does Café Tortoni!

Inside Café Tortoni. We had dinner here on our second night in Buenos Aires. Marc had his beef steak while I had my mozzarella, tomato, and anchovy pizza.

Too bad I forgot to take a picture of the info on this vignette. I remember it being too crowded the time I was there and I decided to just return later. Unfortunately, I forgot to do so.
