The Batuan Temple in Bali

13-May-2017 • Ubud, Bali Lesser Sunda Islands

On the first day of our sightseeing in Bali, our guide and cab driver, I Wayan Nala, took us to the Batuan Temple. The entire complex wasn't very big but apparently it was popular among tourists. There were busloads of visitors when we arrived. Luckily for us, they were leaving just when we were entering. That meant we had the temple to ourselves.

Anyway, we had to rent sarongs to enter the temple. I believe Marc and I had to pay 10,000 Rupiah each to rent one. The temples with their thatched roofs though were unusually pretty. The temples were actually within a compound with lots of altars and mini altars. There were statues and lots of them of course.
