The Monkey Forest in Ubud

I was quite nervous going to the Monkey Forest. I knew they walked around freely in the area and that was what scared me the most. I didn't really know if they attacked people or if they were tame. Luckily, they left all the visitors alone except those who carried plastic bags or backpacks. I watched some monkeys grab a man's sunglasses on TV and fortunately, those monkeys were not from this site but from Uluwatu. At any rate, majority of the visitors did stay away or went around in the area in groups for safety.

This was the little girl who didn't seem to mind sitting next to a monkey. She was the brave one. We all kept a safe distance.

This one really loved papaya!

This was the temple with beautiful buildings we saw on the grounds of the monkey forest. The area was closed though and off limits to visitors. I took this picture from the gate.

There was a stand inside the forest that sold bananas to visitors. The bananas were not necessarily to be eaten by people but to be given to the monkeys.
