I had an intense sightseeing day in Tokyo on my first full day of vacation there. Although it was very tiring, I had a swell time. Considering I had only three hours of sleep the night before due to jetlag, I couldn't complain. I felt blessed to have really had the chance to return even for a very limited time.
The very historic Sensoji Temple
I knew I wanted to see Sensoji again. As always there were many visitors and taking pictures was quite a task.
Here I am with two pretty Japanese girls who readily posed with me for a picture.
On my way to the main temple. Even though I am Catholic and not a Buddhist, I didn't mind coming to this temple and praying. I have always prayed in churches of other denominations and even temples all over the world.
The altar inside the main temple in Sensoji
Here was a scene I uploaded onto my Instagram account. I do like the picture a lot. I took it after I prayed in the temple. I turned around and saw all the smoke. I knew it would make for a great picture.
What I found quite ironic at Sensoji was the abundance of souvenir stores leading to the main temple. There were lots of them which made for a market like atmosphere all around the temple area. It was so different from the image I had of Japanese temples where peace and quiet reigned at all times.
I don't really know what these trinkets are called but they sure were cute.
