Halifax, Nova Scotia

I found it truly funny that many of the locals in Halifax described the day we visited their city as they day they were experiencing a heatwave. I actually didn't find it warm at all. It in fact was very pleasant. Neither too warm nor too cold. I actually told one city hall employee that it was fall weather for us back in Northern California. It explained why many wore shorts and tees in contrast to my jeans and fleece jacket on hand.

Anyway, it was very festive that day. The occasion? The Pride Parade. The city's long main street was lined with people staking their claim on the most coveted spaces on the sidewalk from where to watch and enjoy the day's much awaited event. The locals we met all wished us a wonderful stay in their city. I must say, I love the Canadians dearly.

The first attraction we visited was of course the Citadel.

From the citade, Marc and I walked around aimlessly in the city. The truth is, we did so the whole time we were there. We just stopped whenever there was an attraction that appealed to us. Luckily, we did hit most of the sights within the city center.

I particularly loved the old historic and colorful houses that littered the city.

We saw what used to be the site of the old Irishtown.

Irishtown

There was a group of tourists about to enter a brewery inside Irishtown.

A scene inside the building.

There was only one museum we visited and that was the Maritime Museum by the wharf. Actually, it was about to rain then and we figured it was wise to just go inside and let the rain pass.

Inside the Halifax City Hall

This library was so impressive and colorful. It reminded me of the libraries in the stately mansions in England.

A view of the Art Gallery of Halifax. It was right across city hall. Certainly wished we had more time to go inside.
