New York City

16-Aug-2016 • New York United States

After Canada, it was New York for us as part of our summer vacation to the Canadian and American East Coast. Like I tell people who ask me about the number of times I have been to the Big Apple, I do not remember. It must have been either my 7th or 8th time.

I love New York. There was a time in the past when I really dreamed of living here. Perhaps, in the future when I retire from work. What I can say is that I do enjoy visiting the city as it is full of energy. It is truly electric!

My latest visit to New York was not my first during the summer. In fact, my prior visit took place in the same season of the year. If there is anything I don't like about NYC in the summer, it is the unbearable heat. I literally felt like I was walking inside an oven when Marc and I went sightseeing. It was so hot and humid.

Marc and I had to take the train to travel to Manhattan. Our hotel was in Princeton, New Jersey. It was my first time to stay in Princeton and I didn't realize it was an hour away by train. It wasn't bad though since I got to see places which I had only heard of before. As soon as we came out of Penn Station, this ad by Alitalia caught my eye. I found the ad colors truly striking.

This was the other billboard I saw which I liked.

Marc informed me that this building was the site of the first post office in New York.

The High Line was one New York attraction I just had to see.

I didn't see any nude sunbathers.

I was completely surprised to see a garage like this. I thought it was very Japanese. Japan has lots of these garages all throughout the country.

How patriotic! These were the doors of a nearby fire station.

This stretch of Fifth Avenue was replete with stores.

Inside Penn Station. I looked exactly like these people as I waited for the train to return to Princeton, New Jersey. The reminder as to which track people had to go to was posted on this electronic board in the middle of this crowded hall. To be honest, it was not very fun for me. I really didn't like the crowds.
