Annie

6-Jun-2015 • San Francisco United States

After so many years, I finally got to watch Annie this afternoon. The play is in San Francisco for only two weeks. Today marked the beginning of the first weekend. The last time I checked ticket sales online, rush tickets at huge discounts were offered two hours before showing. Marc and I didn't think twice about going. Marc had seen it in New York ages ago but he was willing to see it again.

I was still in grade school when I first heard of this musical on the news. I can still remember the coverage it got after the show's producers found the young girl to play the lead on Broadway in New York with Carol Burnett as part of the cast. It's been decades since but I sure was glad I got the chance to finally see it .

Who has not heard of the song, Tomorrow? I heard it at least twice during the program sung not only by the child lead but by other actors in the play as well in different scenes. There was another song, I Think I'm Gonna Like It Here, which I heard so many times before but I did not realize was sung in this play too.

There were many children, mostly young girls, in attendance. I personally think it is best to watch this play during the holiday season. The second part of the program is actually set at Christmastime.

Now that I'm almost on summer break, I hope to watch more Off Broadway shows and even the Opera here in the city. Matilda, here I come!

The ticket office inside the Golden Gate Theater. I don't remember it being so colorful. Must have been a recent reno.

I have seen all three now. The Phantom of the Opera was the second musical I have ever attended in the US. That was back in 1991. How time flies!

That's me holding our two orchestra tickets. We scored big time with the tix. Each one cost only $40 down from $120 per per person. One caveat: Discount Offer was good only on cash purchases.

The theater's beautiful ceiling

Very artistic, I say.

That's me!
