The Palace of the Legion of Honor, 2015

5-May-2015 • San Francisco United States

Of the major San Francisco museums, the Palace of the Legion of Honor is one of my favorites. I love its galleries and permanent collections. They always remind me of Europe. It likewise has an absolutely spectacular location. It sits right on a cliff with the massive Pacific Ocean in the background.

Shortly after visiting the High Fashion exhibit, we decided to go through the galleries and view its permanent collections. After all, it's been a good two years since we were there last. I must say, I can never tire of coming here over and over. The whole place looks very grand and elegant.

The Bride's Attire (1889) by Russian painter, Konstantin Makovsky, is one of the museum's biggest draw. It is a humongous painting that hangs on the wall from the ceiling almost down to the floor. Given its popularity, crowds do gather here a lot and quite often.

I purposely had my picture taken in front of the painting to show its size and scale.

The Broken Jar

The Peasant Girl with Sheep

A View of Rome

The Bath

Holy Week in Seville

How I love this painting! Once upon a time, I too went to Seville and spent the Holy Week there. It was in the spring of 1988 to be exact. I just can't believe how fast time has flown. I miss Spain big time. It was the very first country I ever visited and it was the Spanish government which made my dream to travel abroad for the very first time become a reality. The cultural scholarship Spain awarded me has done wonders for me to this day.

Water Lilies

The Gorge at Varengeville
