At a Rest Stop in the Middle of the Mojave National Preserve

The drive from San Francisco to Las Vegas can take between six hours to ten hours depending on the route taken as well as the vehicle's speed. Along the way, one sees and passes by lots of rest stops.

More often than not, the rest stops are nothing out of the ordinary. However, our second to the last stop prior to our arrival in Las Vegas happened to be somewhere in the Mojave Desert. Needless to say, I loved the area. Get a load of the view folks!

Marc had to gas up at this gasoline station and convenience store which turned out to be quite a sight. It had a vignette of the California gold rush complete with male miners panning for gold and horse drawn wagons.

Of course, a rest stop is not complete without the mandatory visit to the loo. I was surprised to see this quaint waterfall urinal in the men's restroom. The idea was for the users to face this urinal and do their business. There was even a sign saying, "Don't be shy!"

Colorful rocks for sale. I should have bought some of these.
