The Transamerica Building and The Columbus Tower
There are a number of buildings with unusual design and architecture I love in San Francisco. Two of these are the Transamerica Building and the Columbus Tower.
It is said that the construction of this building was already under way when the earthquake of 1906 occurred. Its beautiful copper-green façade and flatiron shape were finally unveiled in 1907.
It fell into disrepair in the 1970s but was purchased by movie director, Francis Ford Coppola. He renovated it and Zoetrope, his production company, still occupies much of the tower to this day.
