Wanting to see all we could while in Japan, Marc and I went to Kobe for a day. I couldn't help but remember the strong earthquake that hit the city ten years prior. Given the time that had elapsed since that sad event and our visit, Kobe had recovered quite well. We didn't see any traces of the disaster.
What I did see when I was there was the preponderance of the love hotels everywhere.

Downtown Kobe
Inside a covered mall. This type of mall must have been constructed in Japan back in the 50s and 60s. They looked outdated but still very clean and full of stores.

This Victorian House in the city center is actually a restaurant. I also noticed that Kobe had lots of houses with foreign architecture.
What? All sold out?
