Alcala de Henares

23-Feb-2014 • Alcala de Henares Spain

My trip to Alcala de Henares was my last trip with fellow Filipino scholars from my batch. It was the summer of 1988 and just like the Association of Filipino students did every year while I was there, they organized an excursion for us to get together. I enjoyed the trip a lot but it was a rather sad event too since a number of my friends who received a scholarship from the Spanish government the same time I did were already going home.

At the Castillo de Siguenza, now a national parador or inn in Toledo

Traveling and staying in a parador is luxury travel in Spain. These used to be castles turned high end hotels showcasing Spanish history and design. They can be found all thoughout the country from north to south.

Mita left as soon as her year long studies at the University of Madrid ended. She did come back a year later to visit us.
