How fast time flies. I cannot believe the pictures I have uploaded in this entry were actually taken over twenty years ago. I remember it was June 1988 and just as the school year was about to end, my friends in Madrid and I availed of MUNDOJOVEN's last excursion for the season. This time we toured Castilla La Mancha, made famous by Don Quijote and Sancho Panza. The places we visited here were actually the very same sites used as the backdrop for the Hollywood movie about these very famous Spanish characters of centuries past.
Our first stop for the day was Puerto Lapice. Here I was next to the statue of Don Quijote. This was taken during a quick stop at a restaurant and souvenir store
These were the very first windmills I had ever seen in my life. Taken in Consuegra, Toledo, Province of Ciudad Real
This by far is my most favorite picture from this trip. Taken at a medieval castle from the 12th century
A view of the very dry and brown town of Consuegra, Toledo, again in the province of Ciudad Real
At the Plaza Mayor in Almagro, Castilla La Mancha
At the Corral de Comedias,a local theater, dating back to the 16th century
Standing by the main entrance to the Universidad de Santo Domingo located in Barrio de la Nobleza in Almagro
With Melita Cajucom and Jess Marin as we waited for our tour bus in Campo de Criptana
Next to a Spanish windmill in Campo de Criptana, Castilla La Mancha
Walking on the streets of Toboso, the hometown of Dulcinea in the novel Don Quijote de la Mancha
This is believed to be Dulcinea's house based on the novel
The MUNDOJOVEN bus we traveled on
This elderly Spanish gentleman wanted his picture taken with me. He scared me at first. He looked cuckoo the way he dressed. Turned out he was just very friendly. So, clic clic went my camera as a fellow traveler took our pic.
