There are two major attractions in the island of Lantau. They are the Po Lin Monastery and the Tian Tan Buddha more popularly known as the Giant Buddha. Marc and I took the Hong Kong subway and then a local bus in Lantau to come here. I believe it was the Tung Chung Station connected to a mall where we got out off. The bus which we took was run by the NLB Bus Company. The travel time from Tung Chung to where the monastery and the buddha were ran approximately an hour.

Marc and I didn't get to visit the museum but I did so two years later on a return trip to Hong Kong in 2003.

The elegant and old world Hong Kong Peninsula Hotel in Kowloon
Taken from the mezzanine overlooking the lobby where people had tea British style
Although Christmas and the New Year had just passed at the time of our visit, there was a very festive air inside the Peninsula. There were lots of people having tea and even lots more touring and having their pictures taken at the lobby and grand staircase.
