Marc and I left San Francisco on a Friday morning for Miami, Florida. I remember taking the day off then, our last school day prior to Christmas break so we could join our Costa cruise ship for our second Caribbean cruise. We stayed in a hotel in Fort Lauderdale, but sailed out of Miami the following day, I remember it being very cold even in usually sunny and warm Florida.

Marc really wanted us to eat there that day since the diner is a Miami institution. As it turned out, almost everyone there at that time had either just gotten off a ship or like us, just about to board one.
