Okinawa, Day 2

6-Mar-2026 • Naha, Okinawa Japan

My partner and I wasted no time in visiting the rest of the sights we had yet to see and visit during our second full day in Naha. Breakfast was not part of our room reservation at the Mercure and so we just made our way to the 7-11 in front of the hotel. There we ate together with some locals on their way to work. What can I say, convenience stores like 7-11, Lawson, and Family Mart are gems for tourists. It's where we can get some delicious food any time of day. What's good too, there's often a designated space for customers to eat the food they've bought in the store. There were tables and chairs!

We were pleasantly surprised to see this doll display at one monorail station we came out off early the second morning we were in Naha.

The City Hall was one building I only found out was close to Kokusai Dori after watching one YOU TUBE video about sightseeing in Naha. It was easy to find.

Although it hadn't been too long since we ate breakfast in 7-11, we ate some more in the McDonald's when we passed by one along Kokusai Dori. For lunch that day, we went to the mall close to the DFS building. I remember having some soba soup with five slices of pork. It was delicious! Its funny how I can eat very little in Japan and not feel hungry. BAck home, I would eat and eat and not be full right away.

Me right before leaving the Fukushuen Garden in the afternoon. From here we just walked to the temple on top of a hill.

We just had to have some Blue Seal ice cream, an Okinawa original. WE visited here right before we returned to our hotel at the end of our second sightseeing day.

I just had to have my picture in front of this pair of gigantic Shisas along Kokusai Dori. There were so many students on a field trip the day before and it was just impossible to have our pictures taken here then. Early on our second day, we had the statues all to ourselves!

Another photo opp next to a Shisa right before boarding another monorail train.

Photography was not allowed inside the Prefectural and Art Museum of Okinawa.

Here's an outdoor exhibit on the grounds of the Prefectural and Art Museum.

The Naminoue Shrine. Photography was strictly prohibited and so I just took a picture the upper part of the temple's main facade.

Here's the way to the Naminoue Shrine on a hill

There were lots of souvenir shops along Kokusai Dori and they were all colorful and cartoony.

Would you dare drink this liqour? Yup, it's for sale in Naha. We saw lots of them along Kokusai Dori souvenir stores.
