The Church of Saint Anne

31-Dec-2025 • Warsaw Poland

I shall always remember the Church of Saint Anne in Old Town. It was the very first church we visited in Warsaw. I remember us going inside and it was very, very quiet. There was just one person, an elderly gentleman, praying at one of the pews. We made sure we didn't bother him while we went around the church taking pictures very quietly with our phones.

In a matter of minutes, the peace and quiet at the time of our visit changed dramatically as a busload of European tourists arrived, scattered all over the church in seconds, and started clicking away. They must have had a guide but we didn't see him. The male senior citizen was just as stunned as we were. One could hear cameras flashing all over the church. It went on for a good 10 to 15 minutes before they all left en masse.

Anyway, I can understand why the said tourists were all herded inside. The baroque style of the church interiors was simply stunning. It is said that the church was built over three centuries. We visited a few churches during our stay but St. Anne's was without a doubt the nicest in Warsaw.
