On to Amsterdam
We had a truly wonderful time in Poland. I feel very fortunate to have visited Warsaw. Frankly, I never thought I would ever return to the country after 2012. Now, not only has my interest been piqued, I look forward to seeing Krakow, Gdansk and more. We shall see. Too bad we ended up with only two full days there given the cancellation of our flight from Tirana, Albania three days prior.
From Warsaw, it was Amsterdam for us. I remember leaving our Novotel hotel room around 7:30 am. We bought train tickets from a subway vending machine right across the street. We just walked to Central Train Station and caught the train bound for the airport there. The airport was very busy that morning and the line of passengers waiting to check in was super long for all airlines. Luckily, there was a separate line Gold Premier members. It took less than a few minutes to get checked in. We flew KLM and this time around, our flight left on time.
Upon arrival in Schiphol Airport, we headed straight to our hotel in Zaandam. We had been to this tiny beautiful city not far from the Dutch capital and we knew it was where we wanted to stay on this trip. We stayed at the Zaandam Hotel not far from the train station. It was centrally located and we loved that it was right in front of an Albert Heijn supermarket.
It was late in the afternoon when we got to the city and we were tired. We walked around Zaandam a little bit and saw an Indonesian restaurant where we had Rijsttafel dinner. It dawned on us we weren't in Eastern Europe anymore based on the food prices. They were pretty steep just like back home.
From there, we headed to the Albert Heijn across our hotel and bought some dessert.
