Singapore Times 4

12-Jun-2025 • Singapore Singapore

Our ten day trip to Singapore end of March beginning of April 2025 was our fourth to the beautiful and rich island nation in Southeast Asia. We first went last 2001 for a full week over the Christmas and New Year holidays. The second trip took place also over Christmas 2006 when we used it as our base to go to Vietnam and Cambodia. The third trip didn't happen until 11 years later over my spring break when it served as our base yet again for visiting another Asian country, Indonesia.

Having visited a few times, I can safely say that we had seen most of the major sights. We would like to return again someday though and stay a lot longer since there are new attractions there that we have yet to see like the Universal Studios as well as other places we would like to revisit.

High temperatures or not, sightseeing was a must for us. We did take the subway or the metro many times since walking around was not as comfortable during the day. I thought we had not been to Bugis Junction, famous for its cheap shopping but it turned out to be very close to our hotel, The Ibis Bencoolen. I have to say the country is truly beautiful, safe, and clean.

This was the Hindu temple right behind the IBIS Hotel Bencoolen where we stayed.

I thoroughly enjoyed visiting the numerous malls they have in Singapore. I really loved the interior design of many hotel lobbies, stores and restaurants.

I couldn't get over how lovely the historic shophouses were. They were so, so colorful.

This was one of the many shop houses we saw.

I got another opportunity to visit the Hindu temple we first saw during our very first visit.
