Getting the Covid Vaccine

A friend from Instagram recently mentioned to me that he had no plans on getting the vaccine even if it was made available to him.  He warned me that the vaccine will do me more harm than good.  I have no idea where he got that information but I do know that he is not the only one determined not to get the vaccine for fear of the side effects that may surface months or years later.

I, on the other hand, have made my decision.  I will get the vaccine.  I am a school teacher and not only do I teach a big group of kids, I literally get exposed to hundreds of people each day.  Besides work, I take the crowded subway trains to and from school.  I cannot afford to say NO to a vaccine which will protect me from COVID.

What my IG friend said to me though did make me think twice about the safety of the newly developed vaccine by Pfizer and Moderna.  What if years later I develop a serious illness because I got the COVID vaccine?  I got scared.  What am I to do?

Many authorities in the field of medicine did say that side effects from vaccinations tend to show up immediately rather than later.  With the trials involving thousands of patients complete for the COVID vaccine, I am more at ease about it.  Governments around the world spent billions on this medicine to make it a reality.  I have faith in the scientists.  Besides, I stand to gain more by getting the vaccine than refusing it.

That's just my opinion folks.
