In Knightsbridge, Harrods and Trafalgar Square
On this trip to London, I was determined to buy one thing and that was a Harrods tote bag. I bought one last 2015 during my last visit. The one I bought though wasn't the green bag for which the department store is known for. Back then I bought a very elegant black tote with the Harrods name embroidered on it. While I was happy with my purchase, deep inside, I felt I liked the green one better. Thus, on this trip, there was no ifs and buts. I was going to buy the green tote and buy it I did. In fact, I bought two. One from the store itself and another one in Heathrow Airport. The one I purchased from the airport was much less expensive. I thought the branch in the airport had a sale. The sales assistant told me that the merchandise in the airport store was duty free which explained the lower price.
Now that I have three, I plan to use them a lot as I shop in Union Square each and every time.
Here I was as I was about to enter Harrods Department store. It was nice to be back. How the culture in this store has changed. During my very first visit, security personnel didn't allow backpacks inside and photography was forbidden. All that has changed with the change of ownership. I was so glad with the policy change. Enough with the pretense, I say!!!
After I bought my Harrods souvenir, we went down to the famous food hall. Everything looked very colorful in there. If only they weren't so pricey.
