More Sightseeing in Porto

12-Aug-2019 • Porto Portugal

After visiting Porto this summer, I knew I had to change my list of favorite cities. In fact, I think the 5 most beautiful cities I have ever been to now are (not in any particular order): Venice, Prague, London, Porto, and Istanbul.

How can I not possibly include Porto? The city is like a living museum. I remember walking all over the city and once again, saying, "Wow!" every where I went. What amazing architecture!

Every time I travel, I always take plenty of pictures. I want to remember the sights that I've seen. That way, years from now, the memories will still be alive in my memory just like the pictures I took with my film camera from travels past have kept the memories alive all these years. I particularly don't want to be a a colleague who once went to China on a tour. She was not particularly into taking pictures and when I asked her how the trip went, she stated, "I don't remember that trip anymore!" That for me, is sad!!!

I don't spend my money on faraway trips only to forget them.

The store window of a beautiful store selling high end Porto bags and prints.

This was inside the store selling beautiful Porto souvenirs. It sold lots of bags with scenes from the city. It was just lovely. Of course, I had to ask permission before I clicked away. Luckily, it was okay. In fact, the young sales assistant was so funny and talkative. She said, shoot away!

This guy was taking it all in.

A café by the river

I took this picture as the sun was about to set. I saw the exact same scene in a postcard. Mine picture of course is nowhere near as good as the one on the card. Boo hoo!

The bridge we walked on several times, top and bottom.

I like the vintage look of this picture.

Oh those tiled churches! Always so beautiful.

A closer view

The Majestic Café. How much it has changed. On my very first visit 29 years ago, locals came here to eat and drink. the interior was like its name, Majestic. Sadly, it has now become very touristy and reviews of the place not so flattering. We skipped it this time around.

The IBIS Porto was such good value for money. What can I say, I shall return and return.
