The Royiatiko Hotel in Nicosia

2-Aug-2019 • Nicosia Cyprus, Republic

The Royiatiko Hotel, our home in Nicosia for three unforgettable days. It was so centrally located with restaurants and shops along Ledras Street literally at our doorstep.

The main reason why I chose this hotel was its location. Little did I know that the hotel rooms were just a notch above a dorm. Our bed was so low it must have just been a box spring. Then again, we were able to sleep and sleep well we did. The bathroom was clean and big enough. The airconditioning unit worked well too and it was truly nice to come back to our very cool room after being out under the hot sun all day long.

I didn't like the hotel in the beginning. I even remember Marc stating that he wanted to leave and return to Athens that same afternoon we arrived. I could totally relate. After having stayed at the fabulous Best Western Amazon off Syntagma Square, the Royiatiko was quite a surprise to put it mildly. But, I must confess, the hotel grew on me very quickly and I found it satisfactory. I wouldn't mind staying here again. Besides, it was a deal at $60 a night with breakfast. Really cheap.

During our entire stay in the hotel, we only saw one woman swim here. Then again, we were out sightseeing most of the time and so more people could have used the pool and we just didn't see them.

This was how the breakfast area looked. There was also a dining room inside the hotel where the guests could eat but most of us if not all of us ate outdoors by the pool.

This was the table where we sat in the morning for breakfast. We enjoyed watching the birds drink water from the pool every morning.
