The Changing of the Guards

2-Aug-2019 • Athens Greece

The Changing of the Guards was one event we just had to see while in Athens. Marc and I actually saw it twice. In fact, we could have watched it more times had we wanted to. The only problem was the heat. The scorching heat of the Greek sun in June. Anyway, it was absolutely lovely to see it. While there were hundreds of tourists with us, the crowds were never so huge. I also liked it that there were police men around watching over us. It gave the feeling of security no doubt from pickpockets and thieves. Travel guides did warn us about them.

Should you plan to go to Athens and watch the Changing of the Guards, you need not wait a long time. It occurs every hour. I strongly suggest you wake up early and watch it at 7 or 8 in the morning when everyone else is just waking up. At this time, there is no doubt you would have a very good view and be one of the very few watching.
