Bonaire

I was so glad to visit Bonaire last spring. I had long wanted to go there on a cruise but somehow, the cruise itineraries available were of no interest to me until Royal Caribbean Cruise Line's came along.

With this visit to Bonaire, I complete my exploration of the Netherland's ABC islands. In fact, I got to revisit Aruba and Curacao on this trip too.

The blue waters of the island

The slave huts were among the top sights I wanted to see in Bonaire. It was a sad part of the island's history but I am glad that these tiny dwellings have been preserved to remind us all of the ugly face of racial discrimination.

Nope, these are not snow covered mountains but the salt pans of Kralendijk.
