The Grande Arch de la Defense Paris

27-Apr-2019 • Paris France

On our last day in Paris, I wanted to visit the Grande Arch de la Defense area. It was here where we stayed for a week prior to joining a two week tour of France last 2000. Our hotel was just right behind this huge monument surrounded by offices. I also remember our stay here quite clearly. We used to walk the long but straight distance from this arch to the Arc de Triomphe. I also remember the McDonald's we went to for breakfast one morning which is still open for business to this very day.

This time around, there was now a mall on one side. I don't remember it being there before. The stores though were closed for the New Year's Day Holiday.

The Grand Arche de le Defense of Paris

These colorful statues reminded me of the ones at the Pompidou.

Some of the office buildings near the arch.

A Melia Hotel, a famous Spanish chain

This is the building housing the Novotel and IBIS Hotels. This is where I want to stay next time I return to Paris. I like the upscale and quiet area they are located in.
