La Vaguada
Prior to leaving Madrid, I decided to go to a mall and go shopping. I knew for a fact that many malls had sprouted in Madrid since I was last there and I of course wanted to visit some. However, I was told that most of them were far and not centrally located. Thus, I settled for a quick trip to a mall I used to frequent while I lived there. Off I went to the La Vaguada Mall which also happened to be close to the area where I tutored Spanish kids and taught them English back in the day.
Since the mall was built back in the 1980s, the place did look its age but still a pleasant place to spend time shopping and window shopping. I ended up buying a pair of shoes and some clothes at Massimo Dutti and CNA.
After a quick bite to eat in one of the restaurants, I walked over to the area where I taught English for two years. Being the sentimental person that I am, my heart just melted. I had to hold back tears as I saw the small language school I taught English in as well as the apartment buildings where my former students lived. Those kids are all grown now and well into their late thirties or early forties. How time flies! How I miss them so!
