The Monastery of San Jeronimo

15-Aug-2018 • Lisbon Portugal

Marc and I almost did not get to visit the monastery during our most recent trip to Lisbon. We went there after viewing the Monument to the Discoveries as well as the Torre de Belem. However, we decided to leave our spot in the long line due to the horrible heat. It got to be unbearable. Little did we know that the line we saw was for the monastery's museum and that entry to the cathedral was free and devoid of any line whatsoever.

It was only after our friend, Marco Ferreira, told us that we really didn't have to line up to enter the cathedral did we return on our last day in Lisbon.

Anyway, all turned out fine and we eventually saw the impressive cathedral of the monastery. We likewise got to visit the rooftop of the MAAT or Museum of Art, Architecture, and Technology and were able to take pictures of the bridge so similar to San Francisco's Golden Gate.

The Monastery of San Jeronimo. Can you spot the long line of people waiting to enter?

That's me looking so nerdy back in April 1990 during my visit to the famous monastery.

That's me last month at the same site. Gee, how time flies!
