Air Portugal

6-Aug-2018 • Lisbon Portugal

With my most recent trip to Europe and with my trip to Lisbon on Portugal's national carrier, I have now added this airline to the list of airlines I have flown worldwide.

To be honest, I was a bit apprehensive flying with this airline. Have you ever read the reviews by previous passengers? Goodness, it is as if it is the most horrific airline in the world.

I am glad to say that our flight from Madrid to Lisbon as well as our flight from Lisbon to Malaga went without any major hitches. Sure, there was a delay on each of the departures by roughly 45 minutes but nothing more serious than that.

On board service was minimal. I totally understand. It was just an hour long trip each way. Attendants passed out the famous Pasteis de Nata and that was it. I don't even remember being given a drink.

I found the flight attendants to be young and very attractive. The ladies, sad to say, didn't smile a lot. In fact, the female attendant on our flight back to Spain, looked glum and totally unsmiling to passengers. The male attendant did and was quite gracious.

For these two flights, I rate the airline a 7.5 out of 10. I was satisfied. However, it would be interesting to experience a long haul flight with them perhaps one with a connecting flight too. That for me would really tell what this airline really is like.

I am glad to know though that it will be flying direct from Lisbon to San Francisco and vice versa cone spring 2019. I even read that they'd be offering a free five day layover without extra charge. Portugal, I shall return!

This was the pasteis de nata passengers were served on board. I got to eat two since the lady seated next to Marc gave hers to me.
