Shortly after checking in our hotel, we dropped our bags and freshened up a bit for a walk along the famous Istiklal street. I had seen pictures of it on Instagram and I was very excited to see it for myself.
It was busy indeed but I loved the hustle and bustle along the long stretch of this commercial street. It was replete with stores on both sides and famous clothing brands could be seen. It was late afternoon when we finally got there and even when it got dark, the entire area was still busy and full of activity. It was a feast to the eyes.
Saw this inside a mall. Couldn't let this photo op go by.
While in the mall, we had dinner and we had some chicken kebabs with rice.
Here's a restaurant I took a picture of because of its quaint name.
Sweets galore!
Beautiful architecture could be seen on Istiklal
It seemed to me some locals do ride the train this way. Don't be worried for the boys folks. The train traveled truly slow. Even if the boys fell, they wouldn't get hurt.
We also saw a Catholic church, a basiclica I must say along Istiklal. We went in and I had to say a prayer of thanks for the chance to visit Turkey this time around.
The main altar inside the basilica. As usual, I bought a rosary here to remind me of my visit to the city.
