Back in Washington DC after 23 years

15-Jan-2018 • Washington DC United States

After spending Christmas in Las Vegas, Marc and I went to Washington DC for the New Year. We actually stayed there until January 2, 2018. I must say, I love the cold weather and it sure was cold when we were there. While I may have said it was really cold, I don't think it ever was unbearable for me. The temperature there did dip to 13F and that was even high compared to the temperature and arctic blast after our departure for San Francisco.

While we were in the country's capital, I made sure I got a good feel of the city. I have been wanting to buy property in the East Coast and I wanted to know if Washington DC was a good place for me to spend part of the year when I retire many years from now. Chicago was one city we checked out again last summer. I also need to return to New York in the fall before I decide.

The Lincoln Memorial

There were thousands of people at the Lincoln Memorial and having a solo shot in front of the gigantic statue of Abraham Lincoln was impossible. We had to be creative and quick in taking pictures when space became empty.

What did I tell you? Impossible to have a solo picture with Abe.

This is the building where Lincoln's statue is located.

The mall right between the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial.

The Second World War Memorial

The Vietnam War Memorial by Maya Lin. I had visited it in 1994 and I wanted to see it again. It was honestly quite a sad sight to see the names of all the American soldiers who lost their lives in the battle in Vietnam.
