I was saddened to see Macy's take over Marshall Fields. Not that I dislike Macy's. On the contrary, I love this department store. However, I also loved Marshall Fields a lot and it was such an institution in Chicago I honestly wished it survived. The building alone where MF used to be housed is so impressive. So huge and majestic.

Marc and I have been inside a few times but it was the first time we visited the famous department store after the Macy's takeover which took place years ago.

The building is still grand although it looked visibly empty to me. Perhaps it was because we went on a Sunday afternoon which explained the absence of shoppers. I could just imagine this store in its heyday when it was THE place to go and shop in.
