I have said over and over again, I am not a fan of cookies. Unlike chips, cake, and ice cream which I love, I can survive without them in my kitchen. Then came the trip to South America last July and I was introduced to what would be my love, my intense love, to this day, alfajores.

I have never tasted nor eaten anything so delightful. As soon as I had my first bite inside the Havanna Café in BA, I was instantly hooked. So badly smitten was I , I bought three boxes to take home. Then when we got to Chile, I bought two more to add to my loot.

Well, I ate the very last piece last week and though these cookies may be fattening, it's hard not to crave them. I actually found that there is a store here in San Francisco that sold them but still they are not the same.

When oh when will we meet again alfajores?
