Back in Singapore

On our last full day in Singapore before returning to the US, Marc and I decided to tour the city once more and visit other parts we had not seen. We started early that day walking around the Bugis area first where our hotel, the Ibis on Bencoolen, was located. We saw some interesting buildings which turned out to be the Peranakan Museum, the Philatelic Society, and even the Mason's House. We also visited the Raffles Museum and took pictures of the Merlion.

Touring during the day though meant walking, taking the subway, or traveling by bus. What I liked the most about getting around Singapore was the abundance of reliable and quality public transportation. I think it is very important to say here that it felt extremely safe. Needless to say, I had an a pretty enjoyable day.

I liked this mural a lot. It was actually painted on a makeshift wall surrounding a construction site.

Another interesting mural.

I just had to. I just had to eat another Durian sandwich. I must have eaten at least 6 during my entire stay in Singapore. Bought some along Orchard Road too where I purchased most of them. It was quite cheap!

Who would have thought Singapore would have its own bridge with locks on it.

The Raffles Hotel sign. Unlike our first visit last 2002, when we could enter the hotel itself and walk around, the Raffles main lobby was now closed to the public and only registered guests were allowed in. We did walk around the garden and visited the gift shop.

While walking inside one of the many malls in Singapore, I saw this very interesting store.

Who would have thought, the Philippines's most popular fast food chain can also be found in Singapore. This restaurant was actually inside an outlet mall.

This was how the outlet mall looked on the inside.

Yet another mural. It struck me as quite gay. What do you think?
