The Tirtha Empul Holy Spring

21-May-2017 • Bali Lesser Sunda Islands

The second to the last site Marc and I visited on our first day of cultural blitzkrieging was the Tirtha Empul Holy Spring. I had seen it on travel programs on television and I was very happy to finally see it for myself. Given that it is a major temple in Bali, not only were there locals but tourists as well. In fact, foreign visitors outnumbered the Indonesians in the vicinity the day we were there.

There were tour groups washing and bathing in the holy spring. Just like in many temples in Bali, the entire complex looked even more colorful with all visitors wearing multi-colored sarongs.

This was the main entrance to the temple.

This was a Korean tour group washing in te spring.
