Sightseeing in Manila's Financial District

4-Dec-2016 • Manila Philippines

Although I was in Manila, the Philippines for only five days, I did have time in between family obligations and reunions with classmates to sightsee. While it is true I was born and raised in Manila, much of what there is in the city's financial district was not there yet when I left decades ago. In fact, I don't know my way around the city anymore. I have friends and family tour me around every time I visit. Anyway, this is what I saw while I did a walking tour by myself one afternoon.

The Manila Stock Exchange Building

Inside the Glorietta Mall. What a grand time I had shopping and being serenaded by a vocal group singing hits from the 60's to the present. What an afternoon it was listening to the tunes!

The Philippines is said to have the longest Christmas season I the world. People start putting trees up in September. Christmas songs can be heard over the radio as early as this month too.

Cake shops seemed everywhere. I had a slice of cake every single day I was here. What a bargain and delight!

Inside Rustan's, Manila's premier department store.

The store was all decked for the holidays.

The Manila Peninsula Hotel continues to be one of the country's leading hotels. The lobby is still the place to have afternoon tea as well as see and be seen.

Inside the Shangrila Hotel, another favorite of mine.
