Alaska Here We Come

3-Jul-2016 • San Francisco United States

It was last July 3, 2016 when Marc and I embarked on our third cruise in 15 months and our sixth since we began cruising nearly 20 years ago. Of all our trips this summer, Alaska was really the only destination we had planned way in advance. I was particularly excited about the trip and I really looked forward to traveling on a Holland America ship. The cruise line after all had a reputation for class and comfort. Our previous sailings were with Carnival (the very first one), followed by Costa (our least favorite), and then Princess (the snobbiest to date). The last two were two with Norwegian Cruise Line which happens to be our favorite thus far. Fellow travelers from past cruises had only the best things to say about Holland America upon learning that we were sailing with them next.

We left home very early to catch our flight to Seattle on this day. Lorrie's shuttle picked us up at 4:30 am and our UNITED flight for Seattle from SFO left at 6:30 am.

Our HAL MS Amsterdam left Seattle at approximately 4:30 pm. It was a change for both Marc and me indeed. We had always sailed from Florida for our cruises. We loved the fact that we only had to fly a couple of hours to go to Seattle where our ship was docked.

Here was our view of Seattle as we sailed away. It never dawned on me that the Seattle skyline would look so picturesque!
