Limon's Waterfront

18-Apr-2016 • Limón Costa Rica

Limon's waterfront was just a skip and a hop away from the port terminal. In fact, it was in the block next to Parque Vargas.

For me, what made the waterfront stand out were the ruins of what once stood there by the beach. It was obvious that some buildings used to be there but have since crumbled and been washed away to sea. I chatted with a local, an elderly gentleman, who informed me that there was once an earthquake in 1981 which caused a lot of damage.

These two school kids were just plain hanging out by the water after school. How dramatic can the scenery get?

There was a long wall by the waterfront which I assume works as a barrier. It did look very colorful with its murals and the messages they conveyed.
