Limón, Costa Rica

16-Apr-2016 • Limón Costa Rica

After a very full day sailing along the Panama Canal the day before, I was so glad Marc and I had not signed up for any shore excursion in our next port of call, Limón, Costa Rica. It meant we had the day to ourselves and we had all the time we wanted to tour the town. While it rained during the morning of our arrival, the sun did com out by 10:30 am to our delight.

Since we had no shore excursions to join, we didn't have to wake up before 9 am. In fact, I remember us disembarking at 10:30 that morning after eating a hearty breakfast.

Here I am setting foot in country #83 of my country list. I cannot complain. I feel truly lucky.

Here's Marc wearing the sling after he had slipped and fractured a bone during the first day of our cruise. Who would have thought he would start our vacation this way? Anyway, it is history now. He did manage to complete the cruise as planned.

A view of the cruise terminal from the ship. It was around 9:30 am when we disembarked to tour the tiny town of Limón. I suppose we lucked out big time by not signing up for any tours or excursions here since it rained a lot until around 10:30 am. The white tour buses which picked our fellow passengers up had all left leaving the parking lot empty and bare. Little did we know the center of town was right outside the cruise terminal gates. It was so, so near much to our delight.
