The Olompali State Historic Park

15-Nov-2015 • San Francisco United States

Marc and I were on our way to Petaluma last Saturday when saw a sign pointing to the Olompali State Historic Park. We made a quick detour and decided to see it for ourselves for the very the first time. We honestly didn't know what to expect. We later found out that it was principally for hikers more than anything.

The area used to be inhabited by the Miwok Indians years ago. It was here where they lived and did their trade. I understand there were a few replicas of an Indian dwelling as well as a stone well in the vicinity. Unfortunately, we didn't have time to go exploring.

We did talk to an elderly lady who worked in the premises and she gave us some info on the property. It sure would be nice to return and stay longer. It is very close to San Francisco after all.

This old yellow house has been converted into the information office as well as a mini museum. Admission is free although visitors need to pay an $8 parking fee.

Me at Olompali. I was hoping to look slimmer given that I have lost six pounds since July. I guess I need to lose another fifteen. Heaven knows when that will happen.
