Bye Isle of Man

7-Jul-2015 • Douglas Isle of Man

I do say, time flies fast when one is having a good time. Such was the case when Marc and I were on vacation in Ireland and the UK last July. It was hard for me to believe that by the time our stay in Douglas was up, we were already in the middle of our summer travel vacation and we only had roughly another week and a half left.

Back to the same ferry terminal in Douglas, Isle of Man for our departure for Liverpool, England

This was baggage claim area of the ferry terminal. The experience here upon arrival was no different from our travel experiences going to and leaving airports. It felt exactly the same. As soon as all the passengers disembarked the Mannanan owned and run by the Steam Packet Company, we all congregated here to pick up our suitcases.

This was the lobby area of the terminal. The tourism office is at the far end to the right.

This was where we waited for the ferry to take us to Liverpool. Little did we know it was going to be the Mannanan once again. Boarding was quick, painless, and efficient. It was just like boarding a plane.

For the first two days we were in the Isle of Man, it seemed all the locals just stayed home and never came out. It was just when we were about to leave Douglas for Liverpool did we see some activity in the city which had been literally a ghost town. I was so glad. It felt rather sad in the otherwise pretty island during the bank holiday.
