St. George and the Dragon

One of our newest discoveries during our most recent trip to London was the monument of St. George and the dragon. We later learned it is the symbol of London. We actually saw it in a few places all over the city.

Experts say that these dragons all face outwards and towards all those entering the city. Each dragon holds a flag of the City of London. The flag's red cross on white background represents the flag of St. George while the upright red sword commemorates St. Paul, London's patron saint.
