In all the years I have lived in San Francisco, I never knew there was an equestrian statue in honor of Simon Bolivar in the city, right in the Civic Center area to be exact.

Just who is this dude exactly? Well, I am not going to write a long biography on him in this blog. However, suffice it it so say, he was a Venezuelan statesman who led Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, and Bolivia to independence. It sure was a pleasant sight and discovery to see his monument here. After a bit of research I found out it was a gift by Venezuela to the city last 1981.
